Boston Pops in Purchase, Houston Society of the Performing Arts, Alabama Symphony, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory!

Whew! After getting back from Beijing and Seoul, I've been busy performing...most recently in Purchase, NY at SUNY Purchase with Maestro Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops (Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue); in Houston, TX at the Society for the Performing Arts (solo recital); with Conductor Sarah Hicks and the Alabama Symphony (Mozart Concerto in C Major, "Elvira Madigan"); and in Long Island at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (solo recital) celebrating Francis Crick's 100th's birthday.

Off tomorrow to Boston to give to Gershwin concerts with Conductor David Charles Abell, singers Nmon Ford and Nicole Campbell, and the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall on Wednesday and Thursday!

But first, some recent photos!

Back with the Boston Pops!

The Boston Pops is awesome.

What else is there to say?  It's just awesome.  Maestro Keith Lockhart is amazing, and the orchestra is just plain fun.

That's why I'm so excited to be back to perform with them...not once...not twice...but three times this May, 2016!

The first concert is in Purchase, NY on May 1, 2016 with my wonderful friend and mentor, Maestro Keith Lockhart.

The second and third concerts will be at Boston's Symphony Hall with Maestro David Charles Abell, who I'm also looking forward to working with.

We'll be performing the Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue (another awesome piece) at all three concerts, so I hope to see you at one of them!

BBC Performing Groups Best of 2015!

I feel incredibly honored.

My performance with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Maestro Keith Lockhart of the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 was chosen as among the "BBC Performing Groups Best of 2015!"  There will be a rebroadcast on 12/30 on BBC Radio 3!

This is an incredible honor, and I am very thankful!

Listen to the 2015 BBC Concert Orchestra Tour!

The BBC3 Radio has just broadcast both concerts with Keith Lockhart and the BBC Concert Orchestra from West Palm Beach, FL from April, 2015!

As many of you know, I spent April touring the United States with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Keith Lockhart, performing the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 and the Ravel Concerto in G Major.

Two of those concerts were recorded for radio broadcast throughout England, and they are now available for the next ~month online!

Concert 1 features the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Volodos/Mozart Rondo alla Turca (Turkish March) for an encore.

Concert 2 includes the Ravel Concerto in G Major, with an encore where I took four notes from the audience.

End of BBC Concert Orchestra Tour; West Michigan Symphony; Beginning of Summer!

BBC Concert Orchestra Tour Comes to an End!

It was a crazy several weeks, but the BBC Concert Orchestra tour with Keith Lockhart was a huge success.  We got some awesome reviews (links below), and it was overall an absolute blast!

End of the 2015 BBC Concert Orchestra Tour!
Charlie and Keith Lockhart
After I returned at the end of April, I had several concerts to prepare for.  After a short performance for a benefit dinner for the Seattle Symphony, I gave a small concert in Wakefield, Rhode Island.  Then, I headed off to Muskegon, Michigan, where I played both the Grieg Concerto with the West Michigan Symphony, and then a solo concert the next evening.  Whew!

The Start of a New Season

I'm in New York now, learning lots of new music for the coming season.  After a few small performances in June, I'll debut with the Houston Symphony on June 20, playing the Gershwin Concerto...should be fun!  Next season, I'll also debut with the Alabama Symphony, the Des Moines Symphony, and at the Portland International Piano Festival.  I'll also start my next cycle of concerts at the Gardner Museum in Boston...this time a "Themes and Variations" cycle.

Day Something-in-the-Middle - Coach Bus Heading North!

Florida Tour...Check!

The Florida portion of our tour is now done, and boy did it fly by quickly.  I'm sitting on the coach now doing a long drive from Gainesville, FL to Chattanooga, TN, where we'll break before another several hours tomorrow to Louisville, KY for our next concert tomorrow night.

Our first concert in Vero Beach was at a gorgeous church north of Port Saint Lucie.  From there, we headed to Naples, FL for a concert at their huge concert hall.  We then crossed back over the state to reside for a few days in Riviera Beach, just north of West Palm Beach.

Our two concerts at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach were great, and we got three terrific reviews as well:

The next day, we performed at the stunning Arsht Center in Miami, and then had a free day on the beach in Riviera Beach!  I was so happy that Stella was able to come down for a few days, though she had to head back to New York this morning.  It was wonderful seeing her~ :)

Onward and Upward!

We gave a concert at the University of Florida in Gainesville, last night, and are now heading way up north for the second half of the tour.  It has been an absolute blast working with Maestro Keith Lockhart and everyone in the BBC Concert Orchestra, who have all been tremendously warm and welcoming. :)
